BNP activists and police caught up in a fight in front of BNP Head office at Nayapaltan in Dhaka. BNP activists and its supporters used this riot as an alibi to turn Nayapaltan area into a battlefield.
Deputy Police Commissioner Anwar Hossain of Motijheel commented, “They attacked on the police out of nowhere and for no reason at all. They were creating obstacles which hampered the movement of common peoples’ vehicles. Police just asked them to leave the road so that people can go to their destinations. But they did not listen to the police, they attacked on them instead. They burnt two of our cars. Even some of the police members are even injured.”
Abul Hashem was an eye witness of the terrifying event. He said, “They are doing this when they are not in power, I can only imagine what they will do when they will sit on the governing chair. They burnt two police vehicles in front of my eyes. They also damaged some other cars of common people. I am scared to see the storm forecast. If they form the government then this country will turn into a ruin.
Eminent political analyst Bibhu Ranjan Sarker said, “It remind me of those days when BNP used cocktails as their weapon. Smell of burned flesh could be smelled from anywhere in Dhaka in 2014 and 2015. Whole Bangladesh was burning due to the strike of BNP-Jamayat. They attacked on innocent men and women. Even the kids and the elder people were not safe. Now in 2018, I am witnessing the same thing. People lost their trust on BNP a long time ago. But if they conspire to come on the power and become successful then I can see what they will do after they come.”
